Evil Interference? 😲
Saints, everyone rejoiced this summer when President Joe Biden announced his plan for student debt relief. Unfortunately, his hopes of loosening the noose of debt around the necks of millions of American borrowers have been halted. 👀
An US appeals court [recently]....blocked President Joe Biden's plan to cancel billions of dollars in college student debt, one day after a judge dismissed a Republican-led lawsuit by six states challenging the loan-forgiveness program. The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted an emergency stay barring the discharge of any student debt under the program until the court rules on the states' request for a longer-term injunction….The St. Louis-based appeals court also ordered an expedited briefing schedule on the matter.
A St. Louis District Court judge threw out a lawsuit six Republican-led states had filed despite acknowledging those jurisdictions had raised to “important and significant challenges to the debt relief plan. THe judge ultimately decided that they lacked the necessary legal standing to move the case forward. Notably, the debt forgiveness initiative will cost the government about $400 billion based on data collected and synthesized by the Congressional Budget Office. Importantly, the temporary injunction should not stop anyone from applying for student debt relief as the Biden administration is still reviewing applications and preparing to send that information to loan companies to move forward with cancelling debt as planned. 💰
Saints, the Biden administration has most certainly hit a momentary set back, but we must have faith and press towards the mark of higher credit scores and forgiven student debt.
