Family, we know you have been inundated with coverage of the midterm elections that were held last week. There is much to discuss, and one of the main takeaways is that Democrats are still in control of the U.S. Senate as Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) won re-election. Cortez Masto’s victory was also a win for the Biden administration. However, just because the Democrats are keeping control of the Senate doesn’t mean that the message of the Republican party didn’t resonate with any voters. Republicans may still receive control of the U.S. House of Representatives, because election officials continued tallying mid-term election ballots. 🙌🏾
Cortez Masto narrowly defeated Republican challenger Adam Laxalt, a former state attorney general who was endorsed by former President Donald Trump….With Masto's victory on the heels of Democratic Senator Mark Kelly winning re-election in Arizona late on Friday, Democrats will control at least 50 Senate seats, with Vice President Kamala Harris able to break ties in the 100-member chamber….The Senate is currently split 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans. The newly elected Senate will be sworn in on Jan. 3.
Unfortuantealy, we will have to keep waiting to see the formal election results; this process could take several days before a determination is made regarding which party will hold the majority among the 435-seat House of Representatives chamber. Allegedly, Republicans are favored to to have the upperhand, but votes are still being counted in several races, among those are races in California, which is typically very progressive. If the House falls to the Republicans, they will work diligently to roll back President Biden’s legislative victories around climate change and they also plan to investigate President Biden’s son, Hunter, and his business dealings with Ukraine and China.🙄
